Appraisals
Greenleaf’s Jewelry offers professional appraisals for insurance, estate and resale purposes. Our in-house appraisers provide detailed written assessments based on the intended purpose of the appraisal. Whether you have inherited a treasured piece or want to ensure that your jewelry is properly documented and protected, we are here to help.
Insurance Appraisals
A written insurance appraisal provides the detailed documentation needed to insure jewelry against loss, theft, or damage. It includes a description of the piece and its estimated retail replacement value—the approximate cost of replacing it with an item of similar quality, materials, and craftsmanship in new condition.
Insurance replacement value is not the same as a cash offer or resale value.
Pricing
- First item: starting at $150
- Each additional item with stones: $90
- Each additional stone-free metal item: $65
All items must be submitted together to qualify for the additional-item pricing.
What to Expect
No appointment is required. Jewelry must remain with Greenleaf’s for approximately three weeks while the appraisal is completed.
Watches are considered individually, so please contact us before bringing one in. We do not provide insurance appraisals for loose stones, costume jewelry, or silver flatware.
Cash & Consignment Evaluations
Greenleaf’s evaluates pre-owned jewelry for customers interested in an outright cash offer or placing an item on consignment. These evaluations help determine selling options and are not written insurance appraisals or replacement-value assessments.
Items must remain with us during the evaluation process. The current timeframe is approximately six weeks or longer, depending on our intake volume.
Cash Offers
Cash evaluations are free. Customers receive a verbal cash offer rather than a written appraisal.
Consignment
If you choose to consign an item, you will receive written information that includes the item description, proposed listing price, available cash-offer amount, and consignment contract. A signed contract is required before an item can be displayed for sale.
Consignment pricing reflects what the item is expected to sell for in good condition. Our standard commission is 40%, meaning the consignor receives 60% of the final selling price. Commission terms may differ for higher-value pieces.
If repairs are needed, they will be discussed and approved before work begins. Approved repair costs are deducted from the consignor’s proceeds. Items may remain on consignment for up to 12 months.
